5 DIY Moisturizers To Keep Your Skin Glowing This Winter

December is here and it brought along its BFF, dry skin. Every skin-loving and flake-loathing person sheds massive amounts on moisturizers and lotions every winter. But what if we told you that you could whip up your moisturizer right at home?

Yep, the Gods have answered your prayers and you finally save up to buy those shoes you’ve been eyeing. All you need is an empty jar and some easy ingredients to save your skin from the ire of the frigid winds.


  1. Coconut & Lavender Moisturizer

An easy to make mix with the hydrating goodness of coconut oil and the healing and relaxing power of Vitamin E and Lavender Oil.

What You Need:

½ cup coconut oil

1 tsp liquid vitamin E

1 tsp lavender oil


  1. Melt the coconut oil by placing the container in warm water.
  2. Mix in the vitamin E and lavender oil. Let it set.
  3. Whip it well with a fork.
  4. Apply.



  1. Almond & Aloe Vera Moisturizer

Rejuvenate dry and flaky skin with this healthy mix of aloe vera and almond oil with the added prowess of vitamin E and coconut oil.

What You Need:

4 tbsp aloe vera gel

2 tbsp coconut oil

1 tsp vitamin E oil

2 tbsp almond oil


  1. In a bowl, combine the aloe gel, vitamin E and almond oil and mix well.
  2. Melt the coconut oil and add to the mix and give it a good whip.
  3. Apply.



  1. Avocado Honey Moisturizer

Let honey and avocado bring your skin to life and give it a refreshing and dewy winter glow this season!

What You Need:

3 tbsp fresh cream

¼ avocado

1 tbsp honey


  1. Put all the ingredients in a blender and mix until smooth.
  2. Apply and rinse off after an hour with warm water.
  3. Apply.



  1. Olive & Rose Moisturizer

Spare your skin of chemicals and bring it back to life with this quick moisturizer enriched with beeswax (to boost your skin’s natural oils), olive oil and coconut oil with soft trails of rose oil.

What You Need:

½ cup olive oil

½ cup coconut oil

¼ cup beeswax pellets/shavings

1 tsp rose essential oil


  1. Combine the olive oil, beeswax and coconut oil in a heat proof container.
  2. Melt the combined ingredients in a water bath and let it cool.
  3. Add the rose oil and whisk it using a fork or beater.
  4. Apply.




  1. Milk Moisturizer

Loaded with the naturally hydrating nutrients of milk combined with olive oil and lime juice, this mixture is a quick way of replenishing your skin’s natural glow.

What You Need:

1/3 cup milk

2 tbsp lime juice

1 tbsp olive oil

Few drops of vanilla extract


  1. Combine all the ingredients in a container and refrigerate (for longer shelf life).
  2. Apply.





  1. I recently started using coconut oil as a body moisturizer (cannot use it on my face – breakout terribly). WOW! What a difference! No more dry scaly skin! I will try adding some lavender oil to it. I’m really interested to try the milk moisturizer too! Thanks for including the instructions!!
