Avoid These 5 Mistakes For Flawless Eye Make-Up

A good eye-do can make or break you entire look. Not only is it important to pick out your shades and products well, but also it is essential to be smart and nifty when it comes to the application. Here are 5 blunders you must avoid while doing your make-up.

  1. Optimus Primer

It is of utmost importance that you start your eye make-up with a primer or a cream shadow. This step helps eye shadows stay on longer without your lids looking dry or patchy.patchy eye shadow

  1. Covering Up

Having stated the importance of a primer, it is vital to keep in mind that primers don’t have to be followed up by a concealer when applying a shadow. This will only cake up your eye shadow.

But when it comes to your under eyes, concealers are crucial. And not just any nude concealer, identify the color of your circles (purple, yellow, red) and cover up accordingly. Covering up the under eye in a triangular form, not straight or flat.Concealer triangle

  1. Cornered

While applying a shimmery or light shadow around the corner of your eyes can do wonders, using darker shades around the inner corner (or even on the lower lid) is nothing short of ghastly. This works only for Halloween.leighton meester

  1. Lashing All The Way

You may not always need to wear a waterproof formula, but it is advisable if you want to avoid black rims caused by the lower lashes. That said, using mascara on your lower lashes isn’t always necessary either. Do it only if you want your eyes to look really big and bold.

Also, mascara should be the last thing you put on. Absolutely and at all costs avoid applying the liner and mascara before the rest of your eye make up; and never (ever) curl your lashes after the mascara. It’s only going to end up in a massacre.bleeding_mascara__by_miss_vengeance.jpg

  1. Mind The Liner

Cat eyes are cute and they are trendy AF. Only if you do them right, that is. When doing a cat-eye always angle the wing upward, unless you’re aiming for a sad cat look.Cateye

Speaking of liners, avoid your waterline. Because either – if you’re lucky – it’ll go away almost immediately or bleed all over your under eye. *Cringes*

Watch the whole video and you’ll never feel guilty about purchasing a burrito or burger ever again.

Fat bitch problem number 347,🍔🌯🍟 when you’re such a fatty the only objects you have in front of you to contour with is a beefy crunch burrito, and a Mcdouble with Mac sauce. Let me tell y’all my McFivehead contour has never looked better! And when you don’t have a shovel to help guide you with your winged liner just use a French fry! I’m pretty sure using a French fry for winged liner will be the top trend of 2016, do you see how fierce my wing is?! Also peep the gorgeous new shade of Taco Bell lipgloss is! It’s called Diablo! 5 Hacks To Pep Up Everyday Make Up

Can everyday make-up be, well, not routine? And that too with minimal time and effort put it? Because, let’s face it, not all of us have the will to wake up early and fix ourselves some spot on contouring and highlighting. Follow these quick tips to rev up your daily make up regime in jiffy!

  1. Line Up

Once you’ve mastered the art of the eyeliner, why not play around a bit. Now, I’m not suggesting an OTT runway liner but a simple double liner can do wonders. Or if you’re done with the boring black stuff, experiment with other colors on your lid and see magic happen!eyeliner

  1. Brighten It

Tired eyes? Conceal them with just a swish of light eye shadow or a shimmery nude or white eye pencil. Simply use the eye shadow/pencil on your water line to make your eyes look fresh and brighter. Step it up a bit by applying the same shade at the outer corner of your eye between the top and bottom lashes to make your eyes look bigger.bright eyes

  1. Cheekbone Contour Cheat

Skip the lengthy contour regime and get equally good results with just a few brush sweeps. Apply a sheer shimmer powder along the top of your cheekbones and just under your temples. Pucker up to find the hollows of your cheeks and dust a deep nude blush in the sunken area just under the cheekbone. Smile and apply a peachy blush use circular motions. Ta da! You have gorgeous cheekbones now!look-great-in-nude-makeup-1-1363285324

  1. Brow Code

A bold brow goes a long way. Comb your brows with a clean mascara applicator or comb and go Cara Delevingne using a good brow pencil. Not too much, just enough to give it volume and depth. Not only does this eliminate the need for highlighting any other portion of your face, but it also looks dope AF!bold brows

  1. Bronze Like A Boss

Your make up kit is probably the only place where a bronze can make you feel on top of the world! Here’s how to apply it right and not look like an Oscar trophy. Carefully sweep bronzer on your temples, along the sides of the face, and right under the cheekbones in a ‘C’ formation. Yep, that’s all! Psst! Avoid smearing bronzer around the center of your face; it’ll just make you look older.bronze

Now go rock your everyday look like a star!

How To Work Pop Into Your Make-Up This Season

Unless you are Nicki Minaj or someone with the confidence like Lady Gaga, the mere though of a bright pink lip or turquoise eye lids generate an image in your mind that looks like this:

While this is a great look to pull off at a spectrum-themed party, it’s not your everyday look. But if we can work with shimmer and shine can pop be far behind? Here are 5 techniques to add a dash of pop into your makeup palette and not look like a rainbow.

  1. Tomatina

The safest bet when it comes to turning up the saturation is bright lips. And the safest of safe bets is a tomato red lip. It’s a blend of crimson and orange, so if you can’t find the right bright, just do some mixing to come up with your own tomatina shade according to your skin tone.TomatoMAC

  1. Cornered

Caking your eyelids with a bright tiny is a trend right out of the 80s so let’s crank up the classy and turn down the retro. Opt for a vibrant shade like pop pink, lilac, lemon yellow and the likes, and highlight either the inner or outer corner of your eyes. This way your face gets just the right amount of pop sans the Cyndi Lauper effect.

  1. Line Up

Not too sure about an electric, pop or hot anything on you face? Simply turn down the quantity. For starters, begin with a colored liner and gradually experiment with brighter shades and, wing lengths, thickness, et al. It’s a good idea to pair your colored liner with a slightly tinted (contrasting or a different shade of the same color) eye shadow.7-ways-to-Rock-that-COLOR-EYELINER-without-looking-GAUDY-cover

  1. Peachy Cheeky

This one’s a great trick to brighten up your face with just a few brush strokes. Let the rest of your make up be as f, just swap your blush for a shade that is more on the peach or rose side. Pink cheeks not only make one look fresher but are also an excellent way of highlighting the cheekbones.20131205-153624

  1. Mascara(de)

If all else fails for some reason, this one trick will be your knight in shining armor. Just pick up a mascara tint that is far far away from black. Like an electric blue or violet and dab it onto your lower and upper lashes. Skip the liner and go for bold brows for max effect.color-mascaras-00c

5 Lipsticks That Will Up Your Pout Game

Before you give this read a pass, let me tell you that I am not enlisting this season’s hottest lipstick shades. This list is in fact a compilation of the craziest R&Ds in the lip care and make up arena. From color-changing sticks to annoyingly perfect lip tattoos, here are 5 lip products that are anything but ordinary.

  1. Fran Wilson Mood Matcher

The sticks are available in a bunch of regular and some not-so-regular shades. Here’s the catch though, once you wear the lipstick, it changes color. Now, I don’t mean like a traffic signal but more like different shades pink, russet, maroon, et al, depending on your “body chemistry”. Also, the stubborn 12-hour formula enriched with Aloe and vitamin E is not going to fade whether you eat, drink or scoff down an entire human.moodmatcher

  1. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Crème Colour Concentrate

The 100% vegan and cruelty free make up cake by OCC can be used as an eye shadow, blush and lip stain. Enriched with emollients and humectants including aloe leaf extract, cocoa extract, and vitamin E, the smooth and super velvety texture coupled with gorgeous shades like golden, silver and bronze give a perfect matte metallic finish.obsessive compulsive

  1. Berrisom Peel Off Lip Tint

A Korean trend (of course), the peel-off lip colours are brilliant, actually. The three-step apply, peel and pout process is slightly time consuming but the results are mind blowing! And though this one might not be advisable for the impatient but if you can live through the tad lengthy application process, it’s worth the lip exfoliation.berrisom_mt_001_light-500x500

  1. MAC Lipstick Halsey

Grey is subtle – it’s neither endearing like black nor overly tranquil like white. It’s gorgeous and it’s on a stick inside a MAC case! The offbeat yet gorgeous slate grey lipstick by MAC is not much, still everything. The sultry grey is bold and when it’s on that pout, it’s nothing short of unique and strong.Screen Shot 2016-04-18 at 5.24.14 AM

  1. KA’OIR Glitzstick

The Glizstick Collection by KA’OIR is the perfect reason to step out of your matte-fied comfort zone and indulge in some crazy glitter. The Glitzstick comes as a box of shimmery lip glitters that can be patted onto your favorite lip stain or you could go ahead and buy yourself an entire Glitzstick package wherein you get the base color, the glitz and a complimentary applicator stick. The shades range from a brilliant white to a bold black. If you’re one for a little less OTT, try their Sparkle from the Lip Pop collection. Less shimmer and shine but tantamount chic!

Your best selfie is just a pout away!

Now, we have enough items in our purse to add yet another one to it. More importantly, an entity from the Louboutin studio, should be seen by the world! That is probably why each lipstick doubles up as a jewelry charm! Thread through a ribbon or a chain and you have yourself a Louboutin pendant! Say hello to hassle free and quick touch ups.louboutin-behind-scenes

“After the eyes, lips represent the most expressive element of the face. And there’s a fetish appeal, because lipstick can transform a face from intense to naive or even dangerous,” said Louboutin in a press release. “When a woman carries a handbag, we look at her shoulders. When she slips on a pair of heels, we observe her walk. If she applies lacquer to her nails, we admire her hands. With its slow, circular application, lip makeup becomes a rich and sensual gesture.

The lipstick comes in 3 finishes: Silky Satin, Sheer Voile, and Velvet Matte, and there are 38 shades to choose from – each inspired by the fashion house’s most iconic shoes and handbags. Take your pick from a beautiful range of hot pinks, voluptuous maroons, graceful nudes and of course the Louboutin red.christian-louboutin-debuts-new-lipstick-collection

The price tag of this magical wonder flutters high with a pretty $90 on it. Which in all fairness is a meek price to be paid for such opulence.

Now go on, queue up at a nearby Louboutin store or ring up your NRI relatives and gift yourself yet another reason to pout!louboutin-lip-opener

Envy tips: extend the life of your beauty buys

KEEP IT CLEAN

Extend the life of your beauty buys and safe yourself from nasty allergies with our
easy tips

  • Keep your make-up sponges, puffs and brushes clean. Wash them with baby shampoo and cold water every seven days if you’re a regular make-up user. They should be reshaped, and then air-dried completely. Once dry, store in a closed container.
  • Cover your products. Keep lids on tightly and never leave products in the sun. A steady, cool temperature is best.
  • When you’re on the go, travel-size your make-up: A small amount of foundation or a lipstick cut into pieces can be carried in tiny containers.
  • All oil-based make-up should live in the fridge (lipsticks, foundations, concealers). And the rest in a cool, dry place, out of the bathroom and out of the sun. Varying temperatures reduce the longevity of a product.
  • Change your mascara every six to nine months. When it gets dry and flaky, discard it. Also, swirl your mascara wand in the tube instead of pumping it to keep from getting more air inside.
  • Get rid of your foundation when it starts to disintegrate or when you see the oil and the product separating. Generally, foundations last for up to two years.
  • If you accidentally crack your pressed powder, try using moisturizer to glue the powder back together.
  • Avoid using water directly on any make-up product.
  • Do not share your personal make-up with others. It is as good (or bad) as sharing your toothbrush.

It’s time to add some new weapons to your beauty arsenal

Still using the mini brushes that came with your make-up? It’s time to add some new weapons to your beauty arsenal

THE BASICS

  • FOUNDATION: It should be flat, so it can get into all the creases and corners of your face, ensuring even application.
  • POWDER: Fluffy, large and dome-shaped, use it to lightly dusting on powder once you’re done with your make-up products.
  • BLUSH: Similar to the powder brush, but smaller. If you’d rather not buy both, get one that’s slightly wider and can be used for blush, bronzer and powder.
  • EYE SHADOW: It comes in various sizes, shapes and densities, but a medium-sized (half-inch), flat, dome-tipped one works for application and blending.
  • LIP COLOUR: This small, tapered brush is great for precise application, especially when you’re wearing dark or bright colours.
  • LASH & BROW: Comb out stubborn mascara clumps and set your brows perfectly in place with this dual-ended tool.
  • SMUDGING: A small, dense, round-tipped brush to help you create smoky eyes in a snap.

Brushes to take your tool kit to the next level

STIPPLING: This dual-fibre brush can be used with powder, cream or liquid foundations to achieve a natural, air-brushed effect.

KABUKI: With origins in Japanese theatre make-up, this dense, short, rounded brush works especially well with bronzers.

CONTOURING: The angled head fits into the contours of your cheeks and temples and helps define them. Use it instead of the blush brush for a more sculpted effect.

CONCEALER: A supple, flat brush will follow the shape of your eye contour, making application quick and easy.

EYELINER: Its tapering, pointed bristles give you total control over how thick or thin you want your lines.

ANGLED: A stiff brush with an angled tip works particularly well for filling in gaps in your brows.
