I know what you must be thinking. “Why must I go through the DIY trouble when there is already a readymade paste for this in the market?” Well, the answer is that these tips and tricks don’t require you to spend thousand of bucks to perfect your smile. And most of these ingredients might just be sitting around in your house. So, why not?
Now, lets turn that ecru to a dazzling white, shall we?
Coconut oil ain’t just your knight in shining armor when it comes to removing make-up, moisturizing skin and stepping up your hair game. Turns out the it is also a great teeth whitener. Just swish around a spoonful in your mouth for 10-15 minutes. And if that’s a bit too much, simply dab it onto a cloth and wipe your teeth with it. Alternatively, you could even put a few drops on your brush before cleaning your teeth.
Apple Cider Vinegar
This one’s for the caffeine and nicotine addicts. Of course, owing to its acidic nature, the vinegar can erode your teeth’s enamel but a few drops regularly can work wonders. Simply brush your teeth with a smidgen of apple cider vinegar before cleaning it out with regular toothpaste.
Lemon Juice & Baking Soda
Like mentioned earlier, kitchen basics. The Sodium Bicarbonates and lemon paste scrub off all surface stains and bleach your teeth to a few shades lighter. If the idea of rubbing lemon on your tooth gives you the shivers then you can simple mix the baking soda with water or your toothpaste and brush your teeth.
Baking Soda, Salt & Strawberry
This paste is as delicious as it is effective. Make a pulpy mix of mashed strawberries and add a pinch of sea salt and baking soda to it. Apply the paste on your (absolutely dry, use a paper towel if you must) teeth and let it sit for about five minutes before rinsing. While the salt and baking soda scrub away dirt, the berries are rich in Vitamin C, therefore breaking down the yellow plaque covering your pearly whites.
Orange or Lemon Peels
Again an excellent source of Vitamin C, orange and lemon peels ward off the murky layer of plaque. But since these are also high in acid content, they can deplete your tooth’s enamel so make sure you rinse off with part water and part hydrogen peroxide after rubbing the peels on your teeth.
In addition to these tricks, you should also refrain from eating dark foods like blueberries, soy sauce, et al. Instead binge on fibrous options like celery, carrots, apples and the likes.
